What to know about this mule
The cork-and-latex footbed starts firm and compresses into the shape of your arch over two to three weeks. After that it holds that shape, which is why a broken-in pair fits you and nobody else. Leather stretches across the width over the first few weeks and barely at all in length. Buy for length, let width settle.
The cork footbed is the part doing the work. Firm at first, then moulded to your arch after two or three weeks of regular wear.
The buckle is what makes this workable on a high instep. Anything with a fixed vamp will press across the top of the foot and will not stretch enough to fix it.
Most of these are built on EU lasts and converted inconsistently to US sizing. Where you can, work from the EU number.
Keep them away from radiators and direct sun. Heat is what cracks leather uppers and delaminates soles, not water.
