What to know about this clog
Both the footbed and the sole are replaceable, through a cobbler or Birkenstock's own repair service. That is the real argument for the price.
The buckle is what makes this workable on a high instep. Anything with a fixed vamp will press across the top of the foot and will not stretch enough to fix it.
Brown leather is allowed to age in a way black is not. Oiled browns lift into red-brown as the oils redistribute. If a specific spot hurts on day one, that is a fit problem and will not break in. General stiffness will.
Keep them away from radiators and direct sun. Heat is what cracks leather uppers and delaminates soles, not water.
