What to know about this clog
The cork-and-latex footbed starts firm and compresses into the shape of your arch over two to three weeks. After that it holds that shape, which is why a broken-in pair fits you and nobody else. Napped leather like this dusts rather than scuffs. A suede brush along the nap restores it; water does not.
The buckle is what makes this workable on a high instep. Anything with a fixed vamp will press across the top of the foot and will not stretch enough to fix it.
Brown leather is allowed to age in a way black is not. Oiled browns lift into red-brown as the oils redistribute. If a specific spot hurts on day one, that is a fit problem and will not break in. General stiffness will.
Condition every six to eight weeks for daily-wear shoes. More often than that and you soften the leather past the point where it holds shape.
