What to know about this clog
Birkenstock's footbed carries a deep heel cup, a raised toe bar and a pronounced arch. All three feel like too much in week one and like the point by week four. Napped leather like this dusts rather than scuffs. A suede brush along the nap restores it; water does not.
The cork footbed is the part doing the work. Firm at first, then moulded to your arch after two or three weeks of regular wear.
Brown leather is allowed to age in a way black is not. Oiled browns lift into red-brown as the oils redistribute. Most of these are built on EU lasts and converted inconsistently to US sizing. Where you can, work from the EU number.
Keep them away from radiators and direct sun. Heat is what cracks leather uppers and delaminates soles, not water.
