What to know about this clog
Sanita manufactured Dansko's clogs until 2007, which is why older pairs of both feel related and why the sizing conventions still overlap. Leather stretches across the width over the first few weeks and barely at all in length. Buy for length, let width settle.
The buckle is what makes this workable on a high instep. Anything with a fixed vamp will press across the top of the foot and will not stretch enough to fix it.
Brown leather is allowed to age in a way black is not. Oiled browns lift into red-brown as the oils redistribute. Most of these are built on EU lasts and converted inconsistently to US sizing. Where you can, work from the EU number.
Condition every six to eight weeks for daily-wear shoes. More often than that and you soften the leather past the point where it holds shape.
