What to know about this mule
The Dansko shape is unusually roomy through the toe and fixed across the instep. Length is rarely the problem; instep height is what sends pairs back. Oiled full-grain absorbs marks instead of showing them, and darkens over the first year into something that looks better than it did new.
The footbed is moulded rather than mouldable — support comes from a fixed shape, so there is no break-in period and no personalisation either.
Most of these are built on EU lasts and converted inconsistently to US sizing. Where you can, work from the EU number.
Condition every six to eight weeks for daily-wear shoes. More often than that and you soften the leather past the point where it holds shape.
