What to know about this mule
Dansko builds almost everything on a rigid rocker sole, so the shoe rolls you forward instead of bending at the ball of the foot. That is the whole reason the brand took over American hospitals. Leather uppers breathe and mould, which matters more over a long day than any amount of padding does.
Memory foam feels best on day one and slowly worse after that, because the foam takes a permanent set. Excellent for occasional wear, less so for daily shifts. A wooden base does not flex anywhere. Your foot rolls over the curved front edge instead of bending, which takes about a week to stop feeling strange.
Fit at the end of the day. Feet swell measurably over a shift, and a clog that fits at nine in the morning can be tight by seven.
Leather needs roughly a day to release the moisture it absorbed from your foot. Two pairs alternated each last more than twice as long as one worn daily.
