What to know about this clog
The Dansko shape is unusually roomy through the toe and fixed across the instep. Length is rarely the problem; instep height is what sends pairs back. Leather uppers breathe and mould, which matters more over a long day than any amount of padding does.
Memory foam feels best on day one and slowly worse after that, because the foam takes a permanent set. Excellent for occasional wear, less so for daily shifts. A rubber outsole grips wet floors in a way a smooth leather or wooden base does not, which is why it turns up on almost everything sold for kitchen and hospital work.
Kitchen floors are hot, wet and unforgiving, which makes the outsole the deciding spec here rather than the upper.
Black is the colour most workplace dress codes specify, and the one that hides toe-box scuffs best. It greys as the finish dries — conditioner brings it back. If a specific spot hurts on day one, that is a fit problem and will not break in. General stiffness will.
Condition every six to eight weeks for daily-wear shoes. More often than that and you soften the leather past the point where it holds shape.
