What to know about this clog
UGG's clogs run warm by design. The wool lining is the feature, not an afterthought, which makes them an indoor and cold-weather shoe rather than a year-round one. Suede is soft from the first wear because there is no surface finish to break in — and no surface finish to protect it either. A protector spray from day one is not optional.
The lining is doing the insulating here, so these run warmer than the upper alone suggests. EVA keeps the weight down, which matters more than it sounds when you are lifting the shoe ten thousand times a day. It compresses over a couple of years.
The open heel vents heat and comes off without bending down. It also means the shoe is held by your instep, not your heel — if you are curling your toes to keep it on, it is too big. A cold-weather clog. Lined uppers run warmer than they look, and are better indoors and on short outdoor trips than on long walks.
Leave about a centimetre in front of your longest toe, and check that your foot is not spilling over the sides of the footbed — that is a width problem, not a length one.
Leather needs roughly a day to release the moisture it absorbed from your foot. Two pairs alternated each last more than twice as long as one worn daily.
