What to know about this clog
Spring Step's L'Artiste line leans decorative — hand-painted and tooled leathers on a conventional comfort footbed. Suede is soft from the first wear because there is no surface finish to break in — and no surface finish to protect it either. A protector spray from day one is not optional.
A leather-lined footbed absorbs and releases moisture through the day, which is the reason it stays comfortable where a synthetic lining turns clammy.
Brown leather is allowed to age in a way black is not. Oiled browns lift into red-brown as the oils redistribute. Fit at the end of the day. Feet swell measurably over a shift, and a clog that fits at nine in the morning can be tight by seven.
Keep them away from radiators and direct sun. Heat is what cracks leather uppers and delaminates soles, not water.
