What to know about this clog
Merrell approaches a clog like a hiking shoe — grip and lateral stability first, footbed moulding second. Suede is soft from the first wear because there is no surface finish to break in — and no surface finish to protect it either. A protector spray from day one is not optional.
Cushioning absorbs impact, which helps if you walk a lot and helps less if you stand still. Standing rewards even pressure distribution over softness. A rubber outsole grips wet floors in a way a smooth leather or wooden base does not, which is why it turns up on almost everything sold for kitchen and hospital work.
Treated for outdoor use, which in a leather clog means water resistance rather than waterproofing. Dry it away from heat.
