What to know about this mule
Leather stretches across the width over the first few weeks and barely at all in length. Buy for length, let width settle.
The footbed is moulded rather than mouldable — support comes from a fixed shape, so there is no break-in period and no personalisation either. A wooden base does not flex anywhere. Your foot rolls over the curved front edge instead of bending, which takes about a week to stop feeling strange.
Built for jobs spent upright. Standing still and walking punish feet differently, and this is built for the first.
Tan shows grain and wear more honestly than any other shade, and darkens the most over the first year. Leave about a centimetre in front of your longest toe, and check that your foot is not spilling over the sides of the footbed — that is a width problem, not a length one.
Leather needs roughly a day to release the moisture it absorbed from your foot. Two pairs alternated each last more than twice as long as one worn daily.
