The fit runs closer to a normal shoe than a traditional clog, which makes it an easier first step for anyone who has never worn one. Leather stretches across the width over the first few weeks and barely at all in length. Buy for length, let width settle.
Cushioning absorbs impact, which helps if you walk a lot and helps less if you stand still. Standing rewards even pressure distribution over softness. Wood is heavier and audible on hard floors. It also outlasts every other part of the shoe, and a cobbler can re-nail the upper when that wears out.
